The Westlink and the city motorways
The A12 Westlink cuts through the west of the city centre, joining the M1 from Lisburn and Dungannon to the M2 heading north towards Antrim and the M3 across the Lagan towards the east. It's one of the busiest roads in Northern Ireland, with short slip roads and heavy queues at peak times. If you break down on it, get as far left as you can, put your hazards on and, if it's safe, get out and behind the barrier. Tell us which motorway or junction you're near and which way you were heading.
The harbour and the ferries
Belfast Harbour has ferries to Cairnryan in Scotland and to Liverpool, and a lot of breakdowns happen just before or after a crossing: a battery that's gone flat on the boat, or a car that won't restart in the queue. Inside the terminal, tell the port staff first. Once the car is outside, call us. If you're travelling on to Great Britain and the car can't, we can also arrange to have it transported over.
Both airports
Belfast City Airport sits on the Sydenham bypass in the east, and Belfast International Airport is out near Aldergrove. Cars left in long-stay car parks often won't start after a week or two away. Tell us which airport and which car park, and roughly where the car is parked.
Broken down in the city centre? Around Donegall Square, the Cathedral Quarter and the Titanic Quarter, streets are busy with buses and the Glider. Get yourself onto the pavement, put your hazards on, and tell us the street and nearest landmark.
