Crossing the Trent
Most traffic heading south out of Nottingham uses Clifton Bridge on the A52 ring road or Trent Bridge closer to the centre. Both are bottlenecks at peak times and on match and cricket days at Trent Bridge and the City Ground. The ring road and the trams
The A6514 ring road runs round the north and west of the city, with busy junctions at places like Basford and Bobbers Mill. The NET tram network runs on-street through parts of the centre, Hyson Green and Beeston. If you break down near tram lines, get well clear of the tracks and tell us the nearest tram stop. It helps the driver find you fast.
The M1, junctions 24 to 27
The M1 passes to the west of Nottingham, with junction 25 linking to the A52 into the city and Trowell services between junctions 25 and 26. East Midlands Airport is just south of junction 24. Much of this section is smart motorway, so watch for emergency areas and red X signs if your car starts to struggle.
