The A38 Parkway
The A38 is the main road into Plymouth from Exeter and the end of the M5, and it runs through the north of the city as the Parkway, a fast dual carriageway with closely spaced junctions. In summer it fills with holiday traffic heading to Cornwall. If you break down on it, get as far left as you can and, if it's safe, behind the barrier, and tell us which junction you're near and your direction.
The Tamar Bridge and the Torpoint Ferry
The Tamar Bridge carries the A38 across the river into Cornwall, and the Torpoint Ferry crosses further south. Tolls for both are collected when travelling from Cornwall into Devon. If you break down on the bridge or on the ferry, the bridge and ferry staff deal with it first and move the vehicle to a safe place. Call us once it's off.
Millbay ferry port
Ferries sail from Millbay to Roscoff in France and Santander in Spain. A car that won't start in the queue, or that comes off the ferry with a problem, is a common call. Tell the port staff first if you're inside the port, then call us. If your car is stuck in France or Spain instead, see repatriation from Spain.
Broken down on Dartmoor? Moorland roads are narrow, with few safe places to stop and patchy phone signal. Give us the road number and the nearest village or landmark, and if you can, send your location on WhatsApp while you have signal.
Around Plymouth
We cover the whole city and the surrounding area, including Plympton, Plymstock, Ivybridge, Tavistock and Saltash, as well as east Cornwall and the edge of Dartmoor.
