Car Repatriation from Germany to the UK
Business trip, a visit to family or a drive to the Alps: plenty of British cars cover long distances on German roads. If yours breaks down or is damaged in Germany, we bring it back to your home or garage in the UK.
Breaking down on the Autobahn
If you break down on a German Autobahn, get onto the hard shoulder, switch on your hazard lights, put on your reflective vest and wait behind the barrier. Emergency phones along the Autobahn connect you to help, and 112 works for emergencies. A local recovery service will usually take the car to a garage or storage yard first. That's where we collect it from.
Where we collect from
We collect from anywhere in Germany. Many of our German collections are in the west, around Cologne, Düsseldorf, Aachen and the Ruhr, which is the closest part of Germany to the Channel. But we also collect from Frankfurt, Stuttgart, Munich, Hamburg, Berlin and everywhere in between.
How the car comes back
From western Germany, the route home usually runs through Belgium and France to the Channel, or via the ferry ports in the Netherlands. We choose the most efficient route and quote one fixed price for the whole trip, collection to delivery.
Environmental zones: many German cities have Umweltzonen that need a green sticker, including for UK cars. They don't affect us collecting a broken-down car, but they matter if you plan to drive on.
Insurance
Check whether your European breakdown cover includes repatriation. If you need to arrange it yourself, we'll give you a written quote you can send to your insurer.
